Ferrosilicon: what are the factors that affect the depth of electrode insertion?

Here mainly refers to the resistance of coke itself. If the resistance of coke is small, the current through the charge is large, so that the electrode rises, and the insertion depth of the electrode is shallow. On the contrary, the resistance of coke is large, such as using gas coke, because of its high resistance, the electrode can be inserted deeply.

4. Secondary voltage

When the secondary voltage is high, the arc is longer and the electrode is inserted shallower in the charge. On the contrary, the electrode is inserted into the furnace charge with lower secondary voltage.

5. Operation

If the operation is not correct, such as uneven mixture, partial feeding, and furnace ramming is not timely. The sticking of furnace condition, too high material surface or lack of material in the furnace will hinder the depth and stability of electrode inserting into the furnace charge.

Under normal furnace conditions, the interval between iron tapping and the discharge of molten iron are not clean, and the potential of iron water in the furnace must be more, the electrode should rise and the electrode inserted into the furnace charge is shallow.

Slag accumulation in furnace

Slag removal is not good, too much slag is accumulated in the furnace, the bottom of furnace rises, and the insertion depth of electrode becomes shallow.

8. Diameter of the center circle between electrodes

For the same capacity furnace, when the diameter of the polar circle is larger, the distance between electrodes is far away, the resistance of charge increases, the electrode is inserted into the furnace charge deeper, otherwise, the electrode insertion depth becomes shallow when the diameter of the polar circle is smaller.
